Our open letter, published in the Sunday Times & below, signed by professionals, academics, parent carers and representatives of organisations in disability and health calls for the urgent withdrawal of current guidance on Fabricated or Induced Illness (FII). This call follows serious concerns raised by media investigations, including in the Sunday Times (see also here), that expose families traumatised by wrongful FII accusations – leading to unnecessary child removal and the withdrawal of essential care. Cases like Ella and Melody are not isolated; they are the tragic result of flawed systems.
