The latest children in need statistics show that there is a continued worsening of the targeting of child protection investigations which rose this year whilst new child protection plans fell. Investigations have tripled since 2005 and a new child protection investigation starts on average every 2 minutes and 20 seconds. Meanwhile the proportion of investigations followed by a child protection plan has fallen from 45% in 2005 to only 28% in 2023. See more information and my comments in Community Care
