Why this matters now
My research published 28 August 2026, shows that information-sharing between services (MASHs) does NOT make children safer. Instead:
- Investigations increased dramatically
- Child safety didn’t improve
- Serious harm and child deaths stayed the same
The Government wants to expand this flawed system. We have until 4 September 2026 to demand change.
We need a system that helps families first – not investigates them. Send the email
Families facing poverty or practical problems are being investigated instead of getting help. This disproportionately affects children with disabilities or mental health concerns.
What Does the Email Ask For?
The email tells the Government:
- Create support for families FIRST, not investigation
- Prove that multi-agency information sharing actually helps before using it everywhere
- Record decisions and tell families when they are being considered for investigation
- Measure whether child protection actually works (not just count how many investigations happen)
- Give children and families real power in decisions
