BBC on Parent Advocacy & increases in children in care

The BBC coverage of the first gathering of the International Parent Advocacy Network along with data on the rapidly increasing trends in children in care in Scotland and the postcode lottery that saw a 10-fold difference between the rates of children investigated for suspected maltreatment between high and lowest ranked local authorities and one in every 23 children facing a child protection investigation before their 4th birthday.

The infographic I gave to brief the BBC is below. This shows that rates of children looked after away from home have risen rapidly and more so than for other countries in the UK. Alongside this there has been a big increase in adoptions with children adopted before their fifth birthday.
